Home Up Debunk FIA Filtering Pin Tail

Pin the tail on the bully

A game to be played with discretion
If you play the game indiscriminately, you play into the bully's hands.

Playing the game
Respond to one of the bully's posts with brief post containing just one or two URLs (never more) that point to a tag below, nailing the troll-bully for being SO predictable. Never engage the bully in conversation, just tag him/her. Pin the tail on. Use a maximum of two URLs: the first to identify the tactic the bully is employing, the second to debunk the lie the bully is telling. The second URL is optional.

Why play?
Because the bullies think they always win. If you killfile them, they think they win. If you unsubscribe from the group because of all the noise, they win. If you flame back, they "own" you, and they win. When you pin the tail on the troll-bully you are saying, "No, I own YOU. I know who and what you are. This is our group, and we go on despite your efforts. You are a pathetic and predictable loser."  When you correctly tag the bully, the rest of the group knows instantly that the bully lost.

Of course, if the bully likes it, he still thinks he wins, but everyone else sees that he's just a loser.

When to play
Catch the bully at his/her huffiest, puffed up "best". When you pin the tail on the bully, he/she will be deflated. Oh, never in his/her own eyes, but the rest of the group will see all of the hot air released. Another good time is the first post of an intended flame fest. Throw cold water on them. The other folks will get it. And if the bully switches to a new tactic, a new tag can be pinned on. Never post the same tag twice in the same thread or in the same group on the same day. Pin the tail with great effect, but low frequency.

When NOT to play

When you are angry or ready to flame back at the troll-bully
When you have already tagged the bully with that tag once
When you have already tagged any bully with that tag the same day
