Dealing with Usenet Bullies

Why is my newsgroup trashed with all this off-topic crap?
Because Usenet bullies have decided to take control of your group. It is an unfortunate phenomenon on Usenet. They do not care what your group was created to discuss. They want you to be able to read only their posts.

What can I do to stop it?
Stop it? You can’t stop it, but you can make most of the noise go away (or at least be greatly reduced).

Why won’t these people listen to reason?
Because they are not reasonable people. They are bullies. They want to control the conversation and your group. That is their reason for existing in your newsgroup.

Aren’t they trolls?
Some probably are, or were, but you can tell the difference between a troll and a bully pretty quickly.
